Key Information

The next Workshop on Optimisation, Metric Bounds, Approximation and Transversality (WOMBAT 2022) will be held 13–15 December 2022 in beautiful Perth, Western Australia, in tandem with an industry-focused day on 16 December. This joint event will be hosted at Curtin University by Curtin Centre for Optimisation and Decision Science. The event is expected to take place as an entirely in-person event. Save the dates!

Also very important: As this event will take place at Curtin University's main campus in Bentley, all participants will need to adhere to Curtin University's policy on COVID-19 vaccination. As of August 1, 2022, Curtin University had removed its vaccination mandate; however, note that the policy may evolve. In addition, depending upon the medical needs of our diverse participants, and the evolving COVID situation, you may be required to wear a mask at certain times during the event.

Registration Deadlines
28 October: abstracts submitted before this date will be given priority. This is also the deadline for the student support scheme applications.
12 November: The final deadline to submit a talk.
26 November: The deadline to register if you are attending only and not giving a talk.

Program

This year, following WOMBAT, Curtin Centre for Optimisation and Decision Science, in collaboration with ARC Training Centre for Transforming Maintenance through Data Science, will host a special day (16th December 2022) focused on the applications of optimization on planning and scheduling maintenance in the resource industry. You can register to attend this event at the same time you register to attend WOMBAT.

WOMBAT 2022 has received the Australian Mathematical Society Women in Mathematics Special Interest Group (WIMSIG) Anne Penfold Street Award, which provides support to Australian mathematicians who incur childcare costs when traveling for conferences. Please contact the WOMBAT organizers if you require this kind of assistance to attend.

Student Support Scheme

Up to 1,000 AUD of support may be provided to eligible students, subject to availability. Read the guidelines and access the application form below. The deadline to apply for student support is 28 October.
